What will there be to do when we arrive Thursday?

After arrival and checking in at the hotel, we invite our family and friends to join us at our home located at 2013 Potters Rd, Perry, GA. We will have light refreshments and adult beverages to enjoy as we fellowship enjoy each other. 

What should I wear to the ceremony and reception?

For the indoor ceremony at the Century of Flight hangar smart casual attire is appropriate. For the reception at Gloria's Event Center, feel free to dress casually and comfortably. This venue will have comfortable inside seating in addition to a large outdoor area to fellowship. 

What time and where does the retirement ceremony begin?

The ceremony will start promptly at 10:00 AM and occur at the Century of Flight Hanger at the Museum of Aviation directly adjacent to Robins Air Force Base. We recommend arriving at least 30-45 minutes early to allow for parking and seating.

What happens after the ceremony?

After the ceremony, we will take a 5ish-hour break to offer attendees an opportunity to get lunch, relax and change clothes for the reception, which will be held at Gloria's Event Center, 110 Clopine Lake Rd., Ft. Valley, GA 31030.

Where should I stay?

Avid Hotel Perry National Fairground Area, located at 209 Hampton Court, Perry, GA, is conveniently located between the our house, the ceremony and the reception, offering easy access to all venues. Please call (478) 224-1199 and make sure when you make reservations you mention you are with Lt Col Thompson's retirement ceremony.

Will transportation be provided between the venues?

While we do not have organized transportation between the venues, all locations are within a short driving distance of each other. 

What activities can I expect during the break between the ceremony and the reception?

During the 5ish-hour break between the ceremony and the reception, guests are encouraged enjoy a light snack, or relax. The reception venue, Gloria's Event Center, will offer a meal catered by ABC Catering, plenty of adult beverages and an area to enjoy a cigar if that's your jam.

Is there a specific schedule for the reception at Gloria's Event Center?

Yes, the reception will begin ~5:30 PM and is located at 110 Clopine Lake Rd., Ft. Valley, GA 31030. Guests can look forward to an afternoon of relaxation, dining, and celebrating. Dinner will be served casually, allowing guests to enjoy their meal at their leisure. 

Will dinner be served at the reception?

Yes, guests can expect a full dinner meal at the reception. The menu will include ribs, pork, chicken, salmon, pasta salad, green salad, potato salad, cornbread, and several vegan dishes.

 
Should I bring anything to the reception?

No, this is a fully serviced event. We have everything covered, from a variety of activities to a complete dinner service. Just bring yourself and be ready to enjoy the celebration!
